We're constantly trying to run our business in greener, more cost-efficient ways.
From getting rid of pesky zebra mussels blocking up our water treatment works to maximising the energy potential of waste – we're all over it.
We're determined to be at the forefront of water industry innovation, or as we like to call, making cool stuff happen.

Fuel from sewage
We've started producing sewage sludge flakes, a highly-combustible new renewable fuel that burns like wood chip.
Zebra mussels
We’ve come up with a new, eco-friendly way to get rid of zebra mussels clogging our water works – poisonous fat blobs called BioBullets.
Sewer alarm
Our nifty new alarm is saving homes from sewer flooding.
Smart metering
We’re trialling a new and improved smart metering system in Reading and London.
LeakFrog
LeakFrog - our leak-detecting gadget is saving 10 million litres of fresh drinking water - enough to fill four Olympic swimming pools - every day.
Solar power
We’re aiming to be Britain’s biggest on-site solar power producer and user after agreeing to fit enough photovoltaic systems to cover 15 football pitches at three London sites.
Algal booms
Every spring and summer algae blooms and can cause blockages within our water treatment works.
