Our scheme enables members to access the reserve's wildlife protected area.

This protected area has two bird hides, a wader scrapes, islands, and a boardwalk providing ideal wildlife watching opportunities.

See restricted areas

The area has several open water bodies including a:

  • Deep-water pond which attracts large numbers of waterfowl
  • Numerous scrapes and mud areas used by waders
  • Network of ditches that support safe breeding and nesting

View wildlife from our boardwalk

Our scheme also offers an opportunity to view wildlife from our boardwalk, which weaves through a large reedbed used by various warbler species and Bearded Tits.

Participate in special events and voluntary schemes

A pond-dipping platform and mini-beast area enables us to provide education opportunities for local primary schools that target the science curriculum.

Membership will also offer you the chance to attend special events, help in the practical conservation management of the reserve through wildlife monitoring and volunteer task days, and receive newsletters and regular information on wildlife sightings.

Events include birdsong identification workshops, bat walks, moth trapping evenings, bird ringing demonstrations and dragonfly and butterfly walks.

Previous newsletters are available to download below.
