In conjunction with the Environment Agency, local authorities and the local community, we are working to reduce pollution in rivers and streams caused by misconnected pipes.

When household appliances such as toilets and washing machines are incorrectly plumbed into the surface water sewer, instead of the foul sewer for treatment, they are 'misconnected'.

Our Environmental Protection team are working hard to identify wrongly connected pipework in residential areas so we can see this problem rectified.
