The Network Challenge
This award-winning educational resource was developed by Thames Water engineers to challenge students to design, build and commission a water distribution network.
School children taking part in the Network Challenge
As well as being a fun and valuable activity, the Challenge supports the National Curriculum at Key Stage 3 and 4, covering Technology, Geography, Science, and Citizenship, as well as key skills of problem solving, communication and teamwork.
Throughout the challenge, students are faced with real-life problems such as environmental concerns and social and economic issues.
Teams compete against each other to plan and construct their network of pipes, manage their budgets and stay within the time allowed - just like a real-life engineering project!
Getting involved
By working with local Education Business Partnerships (EBP's) we aim to provide ten Network Challenges per year across our area.
If you are interested in finding out more about the Challenge, just get in touch with your local EBP in the Thames Water area or email our education team.
