A unique collaboration between Thames Water and the Mayor of London to promote tap water in London's restaurants, bars and hotels.

Raising public awareness

The campaign seeks to raise public awareness of the high quality of London's tap water and to highlight the impact of bottled water on climate change and the environment, and its benefits to health and well-being.

Offering a real choice

Another aim is to empower customers in bars and restaurants to ask for tap water rather than feeling obliged to ask for expensive bottled brands.

It also encourages proprietors to proudly serve tap water to their customers, giving them a real choice about what water they can drink.

Carafe design competition

In May 2008, the campaign launched a competition to design an iconic water carafe, used to serve water in outlets across the capital.

The competition received an impressive 115 entries of which ten were shortlisted.

The carafe was mass manufactured from January 2009 and was available for London's restaurants, cafes and bars to purchase in Spring 2009.
