The future
Following approval from our regulator, Ofwat, a programme of improvement work is planned for London's three largest sewage treatment works, at Beckton in East London, Crossness in South-East London and Mogden in West London.
The proposed improvements at Mogden will enable us to increase the amount of sewage that can be fully treated.
We will also be able to reduce storm tank usage during heavy or persistent rainfall.
The potential for overflows of sewage into the tidal Thames will susbsequently be reduced.
The improvements will help boost oxygen levels in the tidal Thames - improving the water quality and the habitats for fish and other aquatic life.
