To support the Haiti humanitarian relief effort, Thames Water has pledged £30,000 to the charity RedR.

This will help provide access to water, sanitation and hygiene - all major issues which will remain long after the earthquake has faded from the news.

RedR provide specialist field-based training to relief workers, and are identifying the needs of aid agencies, with a view to support them over the coming months.

They will provide training and support to ensure that access to water, sanitation and hygiene are suitable and sustainable, with input from local communities.

A fundamental element of this training will be to encourage Haitians to use their own skills to assist in the recovery.

As well as providing funding, Thames Water will work in partnership with RedR to provide technical support.
