Climate change

Climate change is inevitable. Our long-term plans include measures to adapt to the effects of climate change, and steps to reduce our contribution to greenhouse gas emissions.

We generated 187 gigawatt hours (GWh) of renewable electricity during 2009/10 – representing approximately 15 per cent of our total energy use for the year (excluding heat). This is the most renewable electricity we have ever generated in a year.

Climate change is a central theme of our approach to sustainability and our five-year Business Plan explains how we aim to reduce our contribution to climate change and adapt to its effects.
