We are committed to training and developing all our employees, as we realise the success of our business is highly dependent on the quality and performance of our staff.
Training and development is fundamental to ensuring we have capable, confident and skilled people in all parts of the company. In 2009, we reviewed and developed a refreshed learning and development strategy as part of our overall talent management framework to reflect changing needs, risks and our business strategy.
In 2009/10 we continued to develop occupational competence through identifying skills gaps and providing health and safety and technical skills training. We also continued to grow, review and develop our future talent pipeline programmes, including graduates and apprentices.
We additionally started to sponsor bursary students in partnership with the University of East London and as part of our Ten for Ten programme. We continued to deliver our managers' induction programme to enable new managers to understand the wider business, get engaged and off to a great start.
We continued with our cultural awareness training to support our diversity agenda.
