Our sewers and treatment works serve some 13.8 million people. Much of our work is focused on ensuring wastewater is transported to the right place – without causing pollution or flooding – and is then treated to a high standard before we release it back into the environment.
In doing this, we aim to minimise inconvenience to customers, for example by reducing odours from our sites.
Our biggest engineering scheme in the years to come is just getting under way, and will significantly reduce sewage overflows into the River Thames in London.
