Create a Water Action Plan
What is a Water Action Plan?
An action plan is a document that outlines your school's plans to save water.
What does a Water Action Plan need to include?
- Actions - From your Water Use survey results and your research into water gadgets choose the actions your team would like to recommend to the school's management team.
- Choose a measurable target – This could be a reduction in water bills or a percentage reduction in your school's water use. Make sure that your target is achievable, if not this could put people off taking part in the future.
- Choose people that should be responsible for each action.
- Choose timescale for each action taken – You could use your meeting to make sure that everyone is on target to meet their targets on time.
- Ensure that you include monitoring and maintenance programmes for your action as part of your Water Action Plan.
What do we do next?
Present your school's Water Action Plan recommendations to your school management team and ask for their support and ideas to put the plan into action. Once you have finalised your Water Action Plan with the school's management team share your plans with the rest of the school to get backing from the whole of your school.
Ensure your school's Water Action Plan has a strong business case.
