A Save-a-flush is a bag of crystals that expand to save one litre of water per flush. It is simple to install, will be fully functional in around 6 hours and the toilet will operate the same as it did before the bag was fitted.
However, if your toilet is not flushing properly after a Save-a-flush has been installed please remove it. Ineffective toilet flushing can lead to an increase in water use, as people will often double flush the toilet.

You could convert your single flush toilet to a dual flush toilet, allowing you to choose between a regular flush and a half flush. It is recommended that a trained plumber should fit this type of device, but once fitted it does not need any maintenance. Once installed, hold the handle for a full flush and release the handle for a half flush.
Toilets with two flush settings, allowing you to choose between a regular and a half flush.
These toilets reduce the overall flush volume below the Water Regulations limit of 6 litres, there are some models available that flush as low as 4.5 litres per flush.
Water consumption can be significantly reduced by installing and maintaining urinal controls, which are used to detect and control water supply to the urinal when someone uses it. In some cases, flushing also is limited to a pre-set number of uses plus hygiene flushes.
There are many different types of controls. See WaterWise for further information.
