Each day we take away 4.4 million litres of waste from 15 million customers. We transport it through 67,000 miles of sewer pipes before it arrives at one of our 350 sewage treatment works.
Did you know?
- Almost all of the waste will be recycled and put to good use.
- In 2014, we created enough electricity from waste to provide us with 12per cent of our energy needs - that's enough to power a city the size of Oxford.
Your charges explained
Wastewater charges have increased by around 3.6 per cent on average for 2016/17 prices. This includes inflation and investments such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel.
We’ve kept this increase to an absolute minimum by improving the way we run the company.
Helping you pay
If you’re finding it hard to pay your bill, please ask your water company about our social tariff – called WaterSure Plus – and how to apply.
This tariff, which could reduce what you have to pay, is available for customers in financial hardship who meet specific criteria.
