Hyde End Road

Last reviewed:

The team are progressing well with the work and we will be reopening Hyde End Road from Saturday 26 May. Traffic will be controlled via multiway way traffic lights over this period.

Affected school coaches and local buses have been informed; and should resume to normal running from 26 May.

How you’re affected?

This work is being completed under a road closure, starting at the northern end of the scheme from outside number 31 working in the direction towards Winston Close. There is no through road from Shinfield Meadows Development to Dobbies either way.

Access will be maintained for residents, bin collections and emergency vehicles. This will be dependent on which side of the road closure we will be working on at the time.

Bus services

A free shuttle bus is in operation at the Fullbrook Avenue stop. This runs from Fullbrook Avenue, onto Hyde End Road, then Basingstoke Road, across the A33 (using the bus gate), onto Mereoak Lane and then into the Park and Ride.

The return trip is the reverse of the route. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes between 7am and 7pm.

Details can also be found on the Reading buses website.

There are a variety of tickets available; the Reading Urban area tickets allow passengers to use the Greenwave services and the Leopard 10 to Shinfield. For passengers who have purchased a Reading Buses SimplyWokingham period pass, these passes are valid on the Greenwave services for passengers using the shuttle bus, for the duration the shuttle bus is in operation.
