'Text' for updates

Last reviewed:

We know that we cause disruption when we’re working in the street and we know it’s frustrating when our works overrun.

Unfortunately we still have to do the job but we’re trialling a new system to give you more information about it as it happens.

We’ve launched the SMS text updates as a pilot scheme to try and improve our service to you. This pilot starts in July and if successful, we’re looking to use it across more sites in both London and the Thames Valley in the future.

How does it work?

Firstly you need to subscribe to our updates, just text the reference code for the works you would like to be kept updated about to 80007. You’ll find the reference code on the signage where the works are taking place.

We’ll then start sending you messages to keep you updated. If we’re overrunning, we’ll tell you, if we’ve had to close a road, you will find out before you get there, and if we’ve got good news and we’ve finished the work early – we’ll tell you about that too.

You can unsubscribe to this service at any time by texting ‘Stop’ to 80007.

How much does it cost?

The service to receive texts is absolutely free, you’ll only be charged a standard SMS rate for the sign-up message you send to us, and if you text us again to unsubscribe.

We don’t require any of your details other than your mobile number, so all you need to do is text us for the first time and we’ll do the rest – you don’t even have to be a Thames Water customer. We hope you find this service useful and we’d really appreciate any feedback – you can send this to customer.sms@thameswater.co.uk
