Interesting fact about you:

I am very good at Salsa!

What happened on the graduate programme and why was the programme the right choice for you?

My commercial acumen has grown and developed massively, through the delivery of key projects.

Also taking part in key commercial negotiation, managing projects, contract mobilisations, sourcing and procurement has taken place during my 18 months as a graduate trainee. This as a whole has made this programme the right choice for me.

What different roles have you had and what exciting projects have you been involved in?

I have held a project manager’s role though my graduate scheme. I have been involved in a number of projects one of which resulted in the setup of 8 strategic hubs around Thames Water’s region to support the front line teams providing key resources and support during an event or leakage. Another which was a £500k site utilisation project. This looked at our asset performance across some operational sites. Having responsibility for such a large scale project’s really helped me develop my core leadership skills.

What do you believe are the key skills you need to do your role?

  1. Relationship management
  2. Forward thinking / self-driven
  3. Self-awareness
  4. Excellent stakeholder management
  5. Good communication skills

What is one thing you would tell yourself now if you were just starting as a graduate?

Use the wealth of knowledge and experience of the people around you!

Try not to worry about your lack of knowledge and what people may think of you.
