(Jonathan Wickens, Justin Boustouller, Kerry Iles and Paula Walker, from eight2O were joined by Jeremy Browne, Paul McMahon, Jamie Doherty, Daniel Doherty and Martin Hague from Brownes to complete the job)
A school found itself the recipient of a goodwill act by a team of volunteers following a mains replacement job near its gates.
The nine volunteers, from the water company’s alliance eight2O and subcontractor Brownes, spent a full day at Farnham Common Junior School in Buckinghamshire to spruce up the fence to say thanks for the school and parents’ understanding during work to replace nearby water mains.
As part of the work, the team painted and stained a 75-metre stretch of the fence, and managed to complete the painting in a single day.
Paula Walker, customer experience coordinator, said: “When we first visited the school to let them know about our planned works, they were very concerned about parking and parents dropping off and collecting their children.
“However, we did our best to keep disruption to a minimum and in the end there were very few problems. They were delighted when we offered to re-stain their fence, and I’m pleased to say our little team completed the 75 metre stretch in a single day.”
