Latest update

We're working hard to return our sewer network to normal following last week's flooding - with parts of London receiving a month's worth of rainfall in just 6 hours. We've got as many engineers as possible visiting homes and businesses across the region to resolve outstanding issues.

If you have reported an issue to us and things have since returned to normal, please let us know via Facebook or Twitter.

Areas affected

We have engineers in many locations across the Thames Water region, particularly in South East London where the impact of the severe weather was felt hardest. Our priority has been helping customers who suffered internal flooding.

More about sewer flooding

Our sewers are designed to cope with the vast majority of storms but occasionally rainfall can be so heavy that it overwhelms the system. When this happens, sewage can overflow from manholes and gullies.

We are making complex repairs to a large water pipe running under Northumberland Avenue, Whitley, Reading, outside the entrance to the John Madejski Academy.

As a result, part of the road is closed and diversions are in place, including to bus routes which serve the area.

We are working hard to reopen the road as soon as possible. Please keep checking this website for further information.
