Baker Street trunk mains project

We're investing in our region by replacing trunk mains on Baker Street.

The new mains will help provide a more reliable drinking water supply. It will also help to reduce leaks and bursts and increase water carried in the mains.

How this may affect you

We'll be working in phases from April 2024 through to 2026. Phase One begins on 24 April 2024 with a lane closure on Prince Albert Road. This will be for approximately two months.

Both Culwroth and Eamont Street will be closed at the junction with Prince Albert Road. Diversion routes will be clearly signposted. We'll need to temporarily suspend parking bays and bus stops on Prince Albert Road. Please see on street signage for details.

You can view utility worksamended bus routes, and plan your journey online.

We’ll always do our best to minimise disruption to you. If access to your property or your water supply is affected, we'll let you know in advance. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles and bin collections will have full access to roads.

Our working hours will be Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm. And although our team will be on site from 7am, we will not start work until 8am. This allows the team to have an hour to set up the site safely and an hour to pack up.

If you feel your business has been affected, view our business loss of profits policy.

Techniques we'll use

We’ll use different methods to complete the project, such as:

Sliplining

We’ll insert new pipeline through the existing Victoria Main to reduce disruption.

CCTV survey

Post installation surveys to confirm alignment with specifications.

Open-cut method

Only where necessary, we’ll excavate ground to install new pipework.
