East Ham Newham mains replacement project

We're investing in our region by replacing trunk mains in East Ham Newham.

The new mains will help provide a more reliable drinking water supply. It will also help to reduce leaks and protect the future water supply for thousands of residents.

How this may affect you

We'll be working in phases from January 2023 until November 2024. Currently works are predominately around Barking Road, High Street North, and High Street South. The bus stop on High Street North will be closed. The new temporary bus stop is on Ron Leighton Way. This can be accessed via Pilgrims Way. The original bus stop will be reopened in autumn.

Our working hours will be Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 8am to 6pm (if required). The team will be on site from 7am however they will not start working until 8am. This allows the team to have an hour to set up the site safely and an hour to pack up at the end of the day.

We'll inform you in advance if access to your property is required or your water supply is affected. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles, and bin collections will have full access to roads. You can view utility works, amended bus routes, and plan your journey online. Diversion routes will be signposted. Please view the on-street signage for details.

If you feel your business has been affected, view our business loss of profits policy.
