Crouch End pipe replacement

Crouch End pipe replacement

We're upgrading more than 8km of ageing Victorian pipes in Crouch End, Haringey. This is to reduce leakage and burst pipes that can interrupt your water supplies.

The new plastic pipes we will lay are much stronger than the cast-iron pipes they replace. This £13m investment will help us continue to provide a reliable service now, and for future generations.

We're sorry for the disruption this essential work will cause. We'll do everything we can to keep this to a minimum. By renewing your pipes in a planned way now, we'll lessen the chance of sudden, disruptive bursts.

When and where we'll be working

Work started on 9 February 2026 on The Broadway. We will proceed along Crouch Hill and will be working on 29 streets in total over the next year.

Our working hours will be Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 5:30pm and Saturday, 8am to 2pm.

Nelson Road

30 September 2026 for around 17 weeks

We’ll complete these works under a phased road closure between the junction of Ridge Road to the junction with Weston Park. Each phase should take around four weeks to complete.

  • Phase One - Junction of Ridge Road up to approximately 15 Nelson Road
  • Phase Two -15 Nelson Road up to approximately 41 Nelson Road
  • Phase Three - 41 Nelson Road up to approximately 75 Nelson Road
  • Phase Four - from 75 Nelson Road to Weston Park

Parking suspensions will be in place during this time.

Haselmere Road

14 September for around eight weeks

We will be working from the junction with Crouch Hill up to Oakfield Court.

Parking suspensions will be in place, and driveway access will be impacted. Access will be maintained for residents in Oakfield Court.

Granville Road

4 September 2026 for around five weeks

Full road closure.

Tregaron Avenue

2 September 2026 for around three months

Full road closure to be completed in 100m phases.

How this may affect you

  • Resident and business access will be maintained throughout
  • Emergency access will always be prioritised
  • Noise and extra vehicle movements

Parking bay suspensions will be in force throughout each phase of works. These will be clearly signposted. 

Some bus diversions will be in place:

  • W7 diversion - in place for the duration of the works on Crouch Hill
  • W5 diversion - from 6 June to 18 August, buses will run via Mount View Road and Ferme Park Road. This means they'll not stop at Ridge Road, Uplands Road, Weston Park Primary School (towards Archway), and Weston Park, Mayfield Road, Weston Park Primary School, and Stationers Park (towards Haringey)
