Hampton 3605 mains replacement in Clapham and Battersea
We're replacing over 2.7km of pipes in the Clapham and Battersea area. This upgrade will reduce the chance of bursts and provide a more reliable water supply. This long-term solution will future-proof your water network for generations to come.

When and where we'll be working
Our work started on Monday 5 January 2026. We'll be working in phases along the road to complete the scheme.
Working hours:
- Monday to Friday - 8am to 4pm
- Saturday - 9am to 3pm
Fontarabia Road
5 January 2026 for around 13 weeks
Road closures:
- Phase 1: From junction of Taybridge road to 17 Fontarabia Road
- Phase 2: From 17 to 41 Fontarabia Road
- Phase 3: From 41 Fontarabia Road to junction of Forthbridge Road
Acanthus Road
5 January 2026 for around 14 weeks
Road closures:
- Phase 1: From 20 Acanthus Road to end of road
- Phase 2: From 20 Acanthus Road to junction of Lavender Hill
Marjorie Grove
19 January 2026 for around 12 weeks
Road closures:
- Phase 1: Sisters Avenue to junction of Mysore
- Phase 2: Mysore Road to junction of Clapham Common (north side)
Kelmscott Road
2 February 2026 for around nine weeks
Road closures:
- Phase 3: From 41 Kelmscott Road to Northcote Road Junction
- Phase 4: From Northcote Road Junction to 89 Kelmscott Road
Shelgate Road
19 February 2026 for around six weeks
Road closures:
Phase 3: From 78 Shelgate Road to junction of Leathwaite Road
Jedburgh Street
20 February 2026 for around six weeks
Road closures:
- Clapham Common North side to 52 Jedburgh Street
- Phase 3: From 24 Jedburgh Street to Taybridge Road
Mysore Road
2 March 2026 for around 11 weeks
Road closures:
- Phase 1: Junction of Marjorie Grove to junction of Mysore Road
- Phase 2: Junction of Elspeth Road to 73 Elspeth Road
- Phase 3: 73 to 55 Elspeth Road
- Phase 4: 55 to 35 Elspeth Road
- Phase 5: 35 to 17 Elspeth Road
- Phase 6: 17 Elspeth Road to junction of Lavender Hill
After phase 6, we’ll test the new water pipe before we connect you to it.
Please note that these dates and durations may be subject to change. We'll notify you if any updates occur, and you can also keep an eye on this webpage for the latest information.
As part of this scheme, we'll also be working on Tregarvon Road and Marmion Road. We'll update you with further information before these works start.
We've now completed works on Adderley Grove, Ashness Road and Bowood Road.
How this may affect you
- Pedestrian access will be maintained for residents and businesses
- Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles
- Increased noise and vehicle movements, but we’ll do everything we can to reduce this with sound barriers
- Some suspended parking
We may also need to turn off your water supply for a short time. If so, we’ll send you a letter with more details at the time.
