Highworth mains replacement
We're upgrading and replacing water mains in the Highworth and Hannington areas. This is to reduce supply interruptions, improve water quality, and tackle leakage. The new plastic pipes we'll install are much stronger and more resilient. This will help us provide a more reliable service now and for future generations.
Our delivery partner, Morrisons Water Services, will carry out the work on our behalf. Our site teams will be wearing Thames Water personal protective equipment.
We're sorry for any disruption this essential work may cause. We'll do everything we can to minimise the impact. By completing this planned work now, we aim to prevent future unexpected disruptions.
When and where we'll be working
Our teams are working in phases along Swanborough Lane, Queens Road and Skinners Close. The project will run between January and September 2026.
It will be necessary to put some road closures in place during this time:
- 6 March - 23 June 2026 - Swanborough Lane road closure from Staplers Green to just past Bydemill Copse, including the section from Staplers Green to The Freke Arms
- 24 June - 8 September 2026 - Road closure from the junction of Skinners Close to the junction of Nell Hill (Queens Road)
- 24 June - 29 July 2026 - traffic control system in place on Skinners Close
How this may affect you
- Resident and business access will be maintained throughout
- Emergency access will always be prioritised
- You may notice some noise and extra vehicle movements. We’ll do our best to minimise this and may install sound barriers where needed
- Avoid parking in the work area to help us keep things moving efficiently
