Thames Water van in London

There are over 90 local authorities in our supply area. We’re working closely with many of them to:

  • Minimise disruption to customers
  • Ensure our work meets regulations
  • Collaborate on effective solutions
  • Share resources and knowledge

Working with the Greater London Authority (GLA)

We’re part of the Flood Ready Partnership. This group aims to deliver London’s first Surface Water Strategy. It brings together authorities responsible for flooding to find long-term solutions.

The Year One Action Plan outlines the first year of the Surface Water Strategy. Two Catchment Partnerships have been set up: Central London and the Lee Valley. We’ve committed £1.5 million for Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS). This includes £500,000 each from the Mayor of London, Transport for London, and Thames Water.

Streetworks collaboration

We're part of the London Authority’s Infrastructure Coordination Service. This aims to reduce impact through joint planning with other utility providers. With the ‘dig once’ approach, we work together to reduce road disruption and share costs and resources. This minimises impact on customers and the environment. In total, we've saved 1,068 days of extra work, over six years, by working this way.
