Hampstead mains replacement
We’re making significant investments to replace our mains pipes in Hampstead / Highgate. We'll be using sliplining, CCTV survey and open-cut method techniques.
The mains replacement will help to:
-
Reduce bursts in your area. This means we can save large amounts of water each year and won’t need to take as much from rivers or the ground.
-
Lessen traffic disruptions from ongoing repairs and maintenance
-
Improve network reliability for future generations. The new pipes have a lifespan of 100 years

How this may affect you
Emergency services, refuse collection, and the local authority are aware of the work. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles, residents and businesses. Driveways will remain open as much as possible.
We’ll do everything we can to minimise any disruption to you while we repair the main. However, you may be affected by the work in the following ways:
Traffic disruptions
We'll use road closures in 100m to 150m sections. This could cause traffic disruptions. Diversion routes will be signposted. We'll contact residents by letter if we're due to start work on your road
Parking
We'll be implementing parking bay suspensions. Please look out for our on-street and path signage.
Water supply
We may need to turn off your water supply for a short time. If so, we’ll send you a letter with more details at the time.
Road lanes and footpath closures
This will be around the areas where we're working.
Noise at the site
At the site, noise will be present during working hours. We'll try to keep disruptions to a minimum.
