Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) scoping report consultation

We are inviting feedback on the Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) scoping report. This is part of our Water Resources Management Plan 2029 (WRMP29).

WRMP29 will set out how we plan to maintain water supplies for customers and the environment over the next 50 years. The SEA scoping report will identify any potential environmental effects of WRMP29. This means we can integrate environmental considerations into decision-making from the outset.

We welcome comments from:

environmental organisations
stakeholders
local authorities
community groups
members of the public

Your feedback will help shape the assessment. It will reflect the environmental priorities and concerns that are important to the areas we serve.

What is a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA)?

A SEA is a process of assessing how a plan could affect the environment before decisions are made. It helps identify potential impacts on wildlife, rivers, landscapes, heritage assets, climate and communities. We can then consider how any negative effects can be mitigated or reduced.

The SEA is an important part of developing our Water Resources Management Plan 2029 (WRMP29). By identifying potential environmental effects early, we can make more informed decisions. This balances the needs of customers with the protection and enhancement of the environment.
