Repair Progressing: The team are currently fixing the issue
Final repair continues
Our teams have located the sewer and identified the issue, which appears to be the same as the problems found in the other areas.
We’re hopeful that there is no further damage to the sewer, but we’ll need to confirm this once approximately five metres of debris has been cleared from the affected section.
Our teams are continuing to work on site and will provide a further update once we have more information.
The final stage
Our teams continue to make good progress with the ongoing works.
Excavation has now started on the final section, where we believe the most significant damage to the sewer is located. The excavation is currently around 1.2 metres deep, and investigations indicate the damaged section of pipe could extend for up to five metres.
Elsewhere on site, our teams have cleaned and surveyed the sewer between two of the excavation areas using specialist CCTV equipment. This section has been confirmed as clear and in good condition.
Work to construct the new manhole is also progressing well.
We’ll continue working as quickly and safely as possible and will provide further updates as the work progresses. Thank you for your continued patience while we complete these essential repairs.
Repair Progressing
Our teams continue to make progress with the complex sewer repair at Commercial Road.
During the works, a leak was identified on a nearby water main. Our teams have now successfully completed the repair, allowing our specialist sewer teams to resume the deep excavation needed to safely access and repair the affected sewer.
Due to the complexity of the site and the underground infrastructure involved, the repair remains challenging and will take time to complete safely. Our teams remain on site and are working hard to restore the sewer as quickly as possible, while prioritising the safety of our teams and the public.
Traffic management will remain in place while these essential works continue.
