We're making progress
We continue to make good progress with our investigation into the potential sewer collapse on Commercial Road.
Our teams are fully mobilised on site and are carrying out final preparations before excavation work begins. Today, we are completing detailed surveys to better understand the ground conditions and identify whether there are any additional voids beneath the road.
Excavators are being brought to site, and we are working closely with Transport for London (TfL) and our partners to review the survey results and ensure the excavation is carried out as safely as possible.
Our customer teams remain in the area, speaking with local residents and businesses, providing updates and answering any questions.
Commercial Road remains partially closed to help keep the public and our teams safe while these essential investigations continue.
Based on what we know at this stage, we expect the repair to take around four to five weeks to complete. However, this timeframe may change as work progresses and we learn more about the condition of the ground and sewer infrastructure.

We're currently investigating a potential sewer collapse on Commercial Road, E1 causing a further potential road collapse risk.
We are on site and managing the area to keep everyone safe.
This is a complex situation, and before we can begin excavation, we need to carry out extensive surveys to make sure the ground is safe and stable. Once these assessments have been completed, we'll be able to safely bring the necessary equipment to site and begin the repair. Our teams are working to complete this as quickly as possible.
We expect at this stage that the repair could take approximately four to five weeks however we will keep this page updated to give you the latest info.
