Last updated:

Update – 21:30 04/03/2026

We are continuing to make progress with the repair of the burst water main near Oxford Road, OX29.

The damaged section of pipe has now been successfully isolated. This is an important step and will allow our teams to move forward with the next phase of the repair. Our crews will be working overnight to carefully excavate around the damaged section of the 800mm main so that permanent repairs can be safely carried out.

We know that customers in OX7 and OX29 are currently affected by an interruption to their water supply, and we are very sorry for the ongoing disruption. We fully understand how inconvenient and worrying this is, and we are working as quickly and safely as possible to resolve the issue and restore supplies.

The bottled water station at Sainsbury’s, Witan Way, Witney, OX28 4FF is now closed. We will reopen a bottled water station tomorrow if required and will confirm arrangements in our next update.

Our next update will be provided by 08:00 tomorrow morning.

Update – 18:00 04/03/2026

We are very sorry for the disruption this incident is causing and understand how worrying and inconvenient this situation will be for customers affected.

We’re currently responding to a critical burst water main in a field next to Oxford Road, OX29. This 800mm main feeds the reservoirs that supply the mapped area below, including postcodes OX7, OX18, OX28, OX29, GL7.

Since the issue was identified, our teams have been working hard to manage the situation and put contingency measures in place to reduce customer impact as much as possible. This remains a changing picture, and our teams are working tirelessly to minimise disruption to supplies.

Unfortunately, the burst has deteriorated more quickly than expected. As a result, despite the contingency measures in place, we now anticipate that some customers in the OX7 and OX29 areas may experience an interruption to their water supply from early this evening.

To support affected customers, we have opened a bottled water station this evening at Sainsbury’s, Witan Way, Witney, OX28 4FF, where customers can collect bottled water. We are also arranging a further bottled water station to be available tomorrow and will confirm details of its location in our next update.

The repair is complex due to both the size of the pipe and its location within a field. Access to the site is challenging, which is adding to the time required to carry out the work safely. We are working as quickly as possible to stop the flow and repair the main.

We understand how disruptive losing your water supply can be and are very sorry for the inconvenience this will cause.

In the meantime, our customer support teams are contacting and proactively delivering Bottled Water to residents registered on our Priority Services Register. You may still have water, or your water supply may be temporatily off - we're proving this bottled water just in case, to support you.

We will continue to provide another update by 22:00.
