Repair Progressing

26 October, 11:15am

Our teams continue to make good progress with repairs in the Lordship Lane and Sydenham Rise area and are working extended hours to restore the network as quickly and safely as possible.

We've now completed repairs at two locations, with work currently focused on a remaining repair site on Sydenham Rise near the Horniman Museum.

Due to the complexity of the underground network, repairs are being carried out carefully to ensure the safety of both our teams and the public. Once this phase of works is complete, our teams will move on to the remaining repair locations as part of the wider programme.

To help maintain customers' water supplies while repairs continue, we remain in the area supporting the network with water tankers and by rerouting water around the affected sections of pipe. These measures will remain in place for as long as needed.

Based on current progress, we expect the remaining repair works to be completed by the end of this week. However, this remains subject to conditions on site and any additional issues identified as work progresses.

Traffic management will remain in place where required to allow our teams to work safely and protect the public. We understand the disruption this may cause and would like to thank residents, businesses and road users for their continued patience while we complete these essential repairs.

If you or someone you know needs a little extra support, our free Priority Services Register can help us to understand your situation so we can take it into account as best we can.

We'd also like to thank the local community for continued patience and understanding while these complex repairs are ongoing. We remain committed to restoring the network as quickly and safely as possible.

We're making progress

23 October, 9:48am

Our teams are continuing to work extended hours to complete repairs safely. The situation on site remains complex with additional valves needing to be installed, street lights that need be removed whilst also carrying out repairs deep below ground.

As situation further progress, we will continue to provide further updates from the difference locations so you can see the work our teams are doing to restore the network back to normal.

We understand the impact that roadworks and traffic management are having on residents, businesses and those travelling through the area. Traffic management remains in place on Sydenham Rise to protect the public and our workforce while repairs are carried out.

We're grateful for the patience and understanding residents and road users are showing whilst we continue these complex work.

Repair progressing

22 October, 10:45am

We're continuing work to repair damaged water mains in the Lordship Lane area, including Sydenham Rise, Woodvale Road and Dulwich Common. Our teams are working extended hours to complete repairs safely, manage localised flooding and help maintain water supplies while work continues. Water tankers remain in place and will continue to support the network for as long as required.

At Sydenham Rise, repairs to the water main opposite the Horniman Museum have now been completed. At a second location, further investigations identified a damaged section of main approximately 3.7 metres below ground. Additional excavation is underway to provide safe access for repair teams. Recent CCTV surveys have helped narrow down the area requiring repair, allowing teams to focus efforts on the most significant defect identified so far.

At Woodvale Road, barriers remain in place around the sinkhole on the footpath to keep the area safe. Our teams continue to monitor the site and manage water escaping from the damaged main while repair plans progress.

Both sections of the affected main will be returned to service together once repairs have been completed and the network is ready for restoration.

At Dulwich Common, preparations and investigations are continuing to establish the next steps for the affected water main and determine whether any further repairs are required.

We understand the impact that roadworks and traffic management are having on residents, businesses and those travelling through the area. Traffic management remains in place on Sydenham Rise to protect the public and our workforce while repairs are carried out. We continue to work closely with Transport for London and other local stakeholders to manage disruption and keep the area moving as safely as possible.

We appreciate the patience and understanding of the local community while these complex repairs continue and will provide further updates as work progresses.
