Our wastewater services
We aim to deliver an excellent service across our wastewater network. We offer a range of services to make sure that our wastewater network runs safely and smoothly.
We work with customers to resolve a range of issues including:
- Blockages, odour and external floods.
- Internal floods.
- Defective manhole covers.
If you are within our wastewater supply area and are facing any of the above issues, please contact us.
We’ll visit the site to investigate the problem, determine the cause and decide on the best course of action. If the cause is identified within a private or third-party asset, it is they that must complete the repairs.
Access to assets on customer properties
Sometimes we may own assets on a customer's property, and we'll need access to maintain and investigate any issues. These could include:
- FLIP devices - usually a pump that has been installed to support flooding prevention.
- Small sewerage pumping stations - we can adopt and maintain privately owned pumping stations.
Protecting the network
When it comes to preventing blockages and protecting our network, prevention is key. Bin it – don’t block it is our initiative to help people understand what's safe to put down the drain. By law, businesses must ensure that their kitchen waste doesn’t block or damage our sewers.
We’ve got a dedicated network protection team that visit catering businesses with problems linked to sewer abuse. They offer free advice and support to help these businesses improve how they manage their kitchen waste.
Everyone is responsible for helping prevent blockages caused by fats, oils, greases and food waste.
