Water fountains

In the UK, 16 million plastic water bottles end up in landfills, rivers and oceans every single day. It's our aim to create a better future for London and our planet. So, we’re working with the Mayor of London to offer 100 new drinking water fountains across the Capital.

This campaign is the biggest single-use plastic reduction initiative of any UK city.

Each fountain is topped with a distinctive blue water droplet and they're open all hours. You can join the refill revolution by carrying a reusable bottle and filling up when you see a fountain.

Six reasons to enjoy tap water

If reducing plastic use in your daily life isn’t enough of a driver, here are more reasons to top-up with Thames Water.

Protect our oceans

Every second, around 185 plastic bottles end up in landfills, rivers and oceans across the UK. If we carry on like this, there’ll be more plastic in the ocean than fish by 2050.

Reduce emissions

Producing and transporting just one litre of bottled water creates dangerous emissions. This can be up to 500 times more CO2 than tap water!

World-class quality

We run half a million tests every year to maintain our world-class water. This is much more than the tests carried out on bottled water.

Care for your health

The hard water in our region contains minerals, including magnesium and calcium. These occur naturally and are good for your heart and bones.

Tastes just as good

Think bottled water tastes better? In blind taste tests, most people can’t tell the difference between tap and bottled. Tap water even topped some tests.

Save your pennies

Bottled water is around 500 times more expensive than tap water. So switching to refillables is good for you, the environment and your pocket!
