We offer various funding opportunities in our region to support our valued stakeholders. Our goal is to enhance our shared environment for everyone.
Take a look at the funds available to you.
To keep building on the success of our partnership programmes, we're proud to launch the River Health and Community Fund.
This new £20 million fund will help us keep investing in the areas where we work.
It will help make our catchments stronger and encourage people to work together.
Community funding
We have three grants for community projects focusing on river engagement and enhancement. These are available until 2030.
Smarter Water Catchments
We're building on the great work delivered through our 2020-25 Smarter Water Catchments initiative.
We're supporting even more catchments through our River Health and Community Fund.
Learn more about what we achieved in our last initiative, and discover the new Smarter Water Catchments we’re working with.
The Catchment Fund is open to farmers and landowners in our priority catchment areas. The fund aims to tackle water pollution and protect drinking water sources. Successful applicants can receive partial funding for eligible activities, up to £15,000.
We target different river and groundwater quality issues depending on your location. You can check if you’re in a priority area using our handbooks. Please check both the herbicides and nitrate handbooks to find out where we're working.
To apply, contact your local project partner for an application form. They can also provide advice and assistance. Completed forms should be sent to catchment.projects@thameswater.co.uk.
Application deadlines are at the end of November and May each year. We welcome any questions or feedback via email.
Applications for the Bespoke Water Quality Improvement Projects Scheme are open. This scheme offers farmers in priority catchments an additional opportunity for funding. Contributions of up to £40,000 are available for activities that will bring significant, long-term water quality improvements.
Check if you're in a priority area using our Catchment Fund handbooks. Please check both to find out where we're working.

Sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) replicate natural drainage processes. Our SWMP aims to reduce pressure on drainage, surface water flooding and pollution. Shifting to SuDS will help us achieve this goal.
For 2025-30, we invite project partners to apply for funding through two work streams:
Thank you to everyone who applied and delivered projects in 2020-25. We received excellent applications and invested over £30 million in 74 projects. The next phase will introduce more property-level solutions, like soakaways and rain gardens.
Third Party Projects: 2025-30 SuDS Delivery
We've launched a five-year programme to deliver SuDS in our region. We invite project partners to apply for funding for surface water management projects. SWMP funds can cover design and construction costs for SuDS projects that reduce surface water flows to our sewers. The second round will open for applications in Spring 2026.
If you're interested in partnering with us, please email us.
Property Level Solutions
We invite project partners to apply for funding for property-level sustainable drainage solutions. The SWMP fund can cover implementation costs for solutions that reduce surface water flows to our sewers.
We're looking to support stakeholders with projects that improve our regulatory drivers. These are outlined in the Environment Agency’s Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP).
The WINEP provides actions water companies must undertake to meet their statutory obligations.
Aligned projects will advance our catchment-led, customer-focused approach to water management challenges.
An expression of interest form will open in April 2026 to help us find projects that align with these drivers.
