Beenham, Bradfield and Stanford Dingley mains replacement

We’re upgrading ageing water pipes across parts of Beenham, Bradfield and Stanford Dingley, and surrounding RG7 areas, with some locations extending into RG8.

This work forms part of our wider programme to improve the reliability of our network, helping to reduce leaks and provide a more resilient water supply for homes and businesses.

Replacing ageing pipes with modern materials will help to:

  • Reduce leaks and bursts
  • Improve water supply reliability
  • Provide a more reliable service for homes and businesses

When and where we're working

Work is set to start in mid‑June 2026 (subject to final approvals) and will continue in phases until early 2027. We’ll be replacing ageing water pipes across several rural roads, including:

  • Rotten Row and Rotten Row Hill
  • Bishops Road
  • Green Lane
  • Cock Lane (also known as Stanford Road)
  • Hungerford Lane
  • Picklepythe Lane, Back Lane and Stoneyfield
  • Beenham Hill
  • The Avenue (between Southend Road and Bucklebury Common)

To minimise disruption, we’ll complete this work in planned, rolling phases. This means we won’t be working in all locations at the same time.

Working hours

Our usual working hours will be Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm.

Occasionally, we may need to work at weekends. If this is required, we’ll let you know in advance.

Planned phases of work

In your area, work will last about 4 to 12 weeks at a time. This depends on location, traffic management, and ground conditions.

As the programme progresses, you may also notice activity in nearby roads.

How this may affect you

  • We’ll do everything we can to minimise disruption, but while we carry out this work you may notice:
  • Temporary traffic management and changing road layouts
  • Lane restrictions or access‑only arrangements on narrower roads
  • Short-term parking restrictions near our work areas
  • Temporary changes to some bus stops
  • Increased activity from construction vehicles and equipment

Traffic management and access

We’ll use different types of traffic management depending on the road and phase of work. This might mean temporary traffic lights or limited access on narrower roads.

These arrangements will move along each road as work progresses, so any disruption will be temporary and localised.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times. Access to homes, businesses, and emergency services will be kept open whenever possible. If any temporary restrictions are needed, we’ll contact affected customers in advance.
