Mile End Road trunk mains project

We're investing in our region by replacing trunk mains on Mile End Road.

The new mains will help provide a more reliable drinking water supply. It will also help to reduce leaks and bursts and increase water carried in the mains.

How this may affect you

We'll be working in phases from March 2024 until 2026. The next phase of our work starts Monday 7 October 2024 for approximately 11 weeks.

Our work site will require a closed section of the cycle and bus lane. This is between Whitman Road and Burdett Road, on the Westbound carriageway. Parking bays at this location will also be temporarily suspended. Please see the on-street signage for more details.

Our working hours will be Monday to Friday 7am to 7pm and Saturday 7am to 1pm. And although our team will be on site from 7am, we will not start work until 8am. This allows the team to have an hour to set up the site safely and an hour to pack up.

We'll let you know in advance if access to your property or your water supply is affected. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles and bin collections will have full access to roads. You can view utility works, amended bus routes, and plan your journey online.

If you feel your business has been affected, view our business loss of profits policy.
