Pentonville Road trunk mains project
We're investing in our region by replacing trunk mains on Pentonville Road.
The new mains will help provide a more reliable drinking water supply. It will also help to reduce leaks and bursts and increase water carried in the mains.
How this may affect you
We'll be working in phases from February 2024 through to 2026.
The next phase of our works will start on Monday 15 July 2024, for approximately 2 months. For these works, we'll be closing Penton Street at the junction with Pentonville Road. Cycle lanes will be affected for the first 2 weeks, but will open again afterwards.
Traffic management will include a lane closure on Pentonville Road. No bus routes will be affected.
You can view utility works, amended bus routes, and plan your journey online.
We’ll always do our best to minimise disruption to you. If access to your property or your water supply is affected, we'll let you know in advance. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles and bin collections will have full access to roads.
If you feel your business has been affected, view our business loss of profits policy.
Techniques we'll use
We’ll use different methods to complete the project, such as:
Sliplining
We’ll insert new pipeline through the existing Victoria Main to reduce disruption.
CCTV survey
Post installation surveys to confirm alignment with specifications.
Open-cut method
Only where necessary, we’ll excavate ground to install new pipework.
