Traffic management

We work closely with highway authorities and other relevant bodies to make sure disruption to drivers and pedestrians is kept to a minimum. Under the Traffic Management Act 2004, highway authorities (such as Transport for London) have a responsibility to make sure traffic can move freely in their areas..

We often must include traffic management measures when we’re planning our work, including drawings showing how we propose to manage the site. The measures will depend on the type, duration and location of the work. It’s our job to ensure that the flow of traffic around our works and vehicles can be maintained. The highway authority decides when it can happen.
