Next steps in sewer connection application

1. We review your application

Our technical team will review your sewer connection application and reply within 21 days.

Once we have enough information and have agreed on a proposal, we'll issue you a 'Consent to connect'. This gives you the go ahead to do the connection works.

2. You complete the works

Once you have your ‘Consent to connect’, you’ll need to hire a contractor to do the work.

If you're making indirect connections, the sewer connection process ends here.

3. You’ll request an inspection

We’ll need to inspect the connection to our sewer before you backfill the trench (for direct connections and manhole relocations only, this is not required for indirect). Please call us on 0800 009 3921 Monday to Friday between 8am and 5pm to schedule an inspection visit. We require at least 10 working days' notice.

If you make a connection and backfill the trench before inspection, you'll need to submit a CCTV survey report and footage. If your works are not completed at the agreed time of inspection, or the site is inaccessible, we reserve the right to charge you for another inspection.

4 . We’ll issue a completion certificate

We’ll issue a completion certificate once your sewer connection works are approved. This confirms that your work has been finished to the required standard. This applies to direct connections and manhole relocations only.
