DWMP23 explained

DWMP23 was the first time a long-term plan had been co-created to deliver a resilient and sustainable wastewater service. We engaged with around 2,000 customers and stakeholders to develop our plan.

The DWMP23 set out the risks and pressures for our drainage and wastewater service that included:

  • A growing population
  • Climate change – extreme weather affects everything from the size of our pipes to the water levels of our local rivers
  • Protecting and enhancing our environment
  • Loss of green spaces – leaving rainwater without anywhere to drain
  • Keeping customer bills affordable

DWMP23 detailed the actions needed to tackle these challenges and the risks they create, such as property flooding and storm overflow discharges. This was a shared plan that had partnership-working at its core. Find out more about how we created DWMP23 together.

Five-stage development process

The DWMP23 framework included a five-stage development process. We extended this process to include the public consultation feedback on our draft plan, as well as regulatory updates.
