Moving your water meter

There may be times when you want to move your meter. We'll replace your meter with a new one when we move it. If your meter is fitted inside your home or garden, we can usually move it. To move your meter, you'll need to request a survey for us to review moving your meter.

Once the survey is completed, we'll let you know if we can or can't move it. A charge will be applied for the survey and moving the meter.

Step one: Request a survey

Call us on 0800 9808800 to request a survey. We'll call you back within 10 working days to discuss your request.

Step two: Pay the survey fee

Once you’ve paid the £72 survey fee, we’ll book your survey appointment to check if your meter can be moved.

Step three: Discuss survey results

We’ll discuss with you the results of the survey. If the survey finds that your meter can be moved, we’ll provide you with a quote for the work.

Step four – Pay for moving

If you’d like to go ahead with the work, you’ll need to pay upfront. Once you’ve paid, we’ll book an appointment for the meter to be moved.
