Pentonville Road trunk mains project
We're investing in our region by replacing trunk mains on Pentonville Road.
The new mains will help provide a more reliable drinking water supply. It will also help to reduce leaks and bursts and increase water carried in the mains.
How this may affect you
We'll be working in phases from February 2024 through to 2026. Phase One begins on 12 February 2024 with a lane closure on Pentonville Road West (off Cumming Street). This will be for approximately 6 weeks.
You can view utility works, amended bus routes, and plan your journey online.
We’ll always do our best to minimise disruption to you. If access to your property or your water supply is affected, we'll let you know in advance. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles and bin collections will have full access to roads.
If you feel your business has been affected, view our business loss of profits policy.
Techniques we'll use
We’ll use different methods to complete the project, such as:
Drain relining
Where we can, we’ll avoid digging up the road by inserting new pipes through damaged ones.
Sliplining
We’ll insert new pipeline through the existing Victoria Main to reduce disruption.
CCTV Survey
We put a camera down a manhole to conduct a CCTV drainage survey.
Open-cut method
Only where necessary, we’ll excavate ground to install new pipework.
