Drainage and Wastewater Management Plan 2028 (DWMP28)

A male engineer on site

This statutory DWMP planning cycle is well underway. While we play a critical role in drainage and wastewater management across our region, we can’t do it alone. So, we’ll continue to co-create our DWMP with stakeholders who represent customer and environmental interests.

Together we have shared responsibilities for:

  • Keeping our sewers free from blockages
  • Protecting homes from flooding
  • Looking after local rivers, wetlands and the environment

DWMP28 scope

The regulatory guidance sets out an expanded scope for DWMP28 beyond that used for the non-statutory plan.

In scope

  • Planning for the impact of:
    • Population change
    • Climate change
    • Asset health
    • New regulatory requirements including Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP)
  • Co-creation of solutions and partnership working
  • Short, medium and long-term view of water company-owned assets
  • Treatment recycling and disposal of sewage sludge (under development)
  • Operations and maintenance
  • Resilience

Out of scope

  • Assets not owned by the water company that don't interact with drainage and wastewater systems
