Internal metering

As a developer, you'll need to install a meter for all new supplies. These meters should be should be ordered directly from us.

Pay for the quote

Once you’ve applied for your new water connection, we’ll send you a quote to review and approve. You’ll then need to pay for your quote

Order and delivery

Use the meter ordering form or contact us to place your order of up to 200 meters. The delivery time is 4 to 6 weeks, to the site address.

We recommend ordering when you’re ready to install as you’ll have to pay for replacements.

Install the meters

Meters must be installed for each premises in a way that is safe to access for readings and maintenance.

When installation is complete, please call us on 0800 009 3921 to let us know. For full guidance, read our metering policy.

We'll check the meters

An engineer will visit the site to check installation has been done correctly. They'll also collect the serial numbers.

If you're on our smart meter network, the engineer might install local communication equipment (LCE).

Billing account set up

The billing account will be set up in the developer’s name.

We'll update this when we receive handover information, or when the new occupier contacts us to sets up their account.

Non-household properties

Once the meters have been installed, an engineer will check it's been done correctly. Our team will then pass the meter information to the market operator. The market operator will notify the retailer, who'll then contact the developer about billing until the property is handed over to the new occupier.
