Water Direct

If you’re falling behind on your bills, Water Direct can help.

With Water Direct, you can combine your yearly bill with any other bill arrears into one weekly payment. This payment then goes straight from your benefits.

Water Direct has been designed with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). 

Eligibility for Water Direct

You can apply for Water Direct online if you meet the following criteria:

You have a Thames Water account that:

  • Is active
  • Has at least two failed payment plans
  • Is in debt of £50 or more

You'll also need to receive at least one of these:

  • Income Support
  • Job Seekers Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension or Universal Credit
  • Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) 
The application process can take six to eight weeks to complete. If your application is successful, you won’t need to worry about further debt recovery action.

Cancel your application

You can cancel your application within 14 days of submitting your application. To do this, call DWP on 0800 169 0310 or 0800 731 0469 if you claim Pension Credit.
