Rateable value charge
For each £1 of your property’s rateable value (RV), we’ll charge a rate for clean water and wastewater.
The government sets your rateable value based on your home’s location and size. It varies from house to house, so yours might be different from your neighbour’s.
You can find the rateable value for your property on your bill.
Charge area rates for 2025-26
The rates vary depending on the charging area where your property is located. You can view details of rateable values across our region in the table.

The government froze rateable values in 1990, so we use values as at 31 March 1990.
How we work out your bill
Firstly, we'll multiply the rateable value (RV) by the rate for clean water. Then we'll multiply the rateable value by the rate for wastewater. Finally, we'll add fixed charges which cover our essential running costs. All three calculations are then combined to make your bill total.
Example of a bill
Please note that these calculations are illustrative only. Your bill may be different.
Clean water charge - £100 (RV) x £2.20 (clean water rate) = £220
Wastewater charge - £100 (RV) x £1.40 (wastewater rate) = £140
Fixed charges - £78.88 (water fixed charge) + £128.83 (wastewater fixed charge) = £207.71
Bill total - £567.71
