We’re continuing to make steady progress on our ground stabilisation works at Kidmore Road, following the appearance of a sinkhole earlier this year on public land. Our teams remain focused on delivering a safe, long-term solution that will allow the road to reopen and ensure the area remains stable into the future.

In recent weeks, we’ve completed a series of important investigations to understand the conditions beneath the surface. This included trial holes, dynamic probing and specialist assessments that helped us confirm the exact layout for the injection points needed to stabilise the ground. These early steps were vital in preparing the site for the next phase of work.

Our contractors have now started ground treatment using a method called compaction grouting. This involves drilling deep boreholes and injecting a thick grout mixture into the ground. The process fills hidden voids and strengthens weak soil, helping to restore stability beneath the road. Over 30 treatment points are planned in the initial phase, with more to follow if the ground conditions require it. The work is being carefully monitored by geotechnical specialists to make sure it remains safe and effective at all times.

We expect this phase of work to continue for around 12–15 weeks, though this may vary depending on what we find as we go. Once the ground has been fully treated and confirmed as stable, we’ll begin reinstating the road and surrounding area.

Traffic management remains in place while the work is ongoing. This includes a road closure and local diversion, with safe pedestrian access maintained throughout. We’re doing all we can to keep disruption to a minimum and will continue to review our approach as the project progresses.
