Ship Hill mains replacement

Over the last 18 months there have been nine bursts on Ship Hill, in Tatsfield Village. The bursts have led to emergency works and closures of the road. This has also resulted in buses not being able to run.

To fix this, work has begun to replace the water mains pipe. The replacement will help to keep the taps flowing for our customers and reduce leaks on our network. During this time a road closure and diversion will be in place for 13 weeks.

Communicating with our customers

Work was due to start on Monday 22 January 2024, however, this was delayed. Due to permit issues, this caused TFL and MetroBus a short amount of time to arrange routes / transport.

We attended a meeting to discuss concerns about this and work involved. TFL attended to discuss alternate routes. Also in attendance were residents, the parish council, and schools. The main concerns discussed were the bus disruption.

Alternative bus routes

TFL found an alternative for public transport. We have supported them to put a shuttle bus service in place. This will keep Tatsfield Village connected to the bus routes. To prevent delays and to help our customers, we’re funding this service.
