Thames Water appoints new Strategic Resources Director

Thames Water has today announced that Nevil Muncaster will join the company in the newly created Strategic Resources Director role.

Nevil, who has over 30 years’ experience in the water and waste sector, joins from Yorkshire Water where he has held several board positions including Director of Asset Management and most recently Chief Strategy and Regulation Officer. He will start his new role at Thames Water in early September.

He will lead the delivery of several complex long-term projects on water resources including establishing major infrastructure changes to facilitate national water transfer and trading schemes. He will also oversee the transition of the Thames Tideway Tunnel, known as the “super sewer” from a construction project to an operational asset and lead Thames’ Net Zero plan, the roadmap for which was announced earlier this week.

Projects like the super sewer and the strategic water resource schemes being developed with other water companies are key in making sure our industry can meet the needs of customers for decades to come and, through Thames’ Net Zero commitments we can ensure they’re delivered sustainably so the environment benefits as well.”

Prior to working at Yorkshire Water, Nevil spent 19 years at Veolia Water in several roles including Managing Director of Veolia Water South East. Nevil is also Chair of Keyland Developments, a sister company to Yorkshire Water within the Kelda Group that focuses on sustainable housing solutions. 

His appointment follows the recent recruitment of Caroline Sheridan as Engineering and Asset Director, Tony Vasishta as Managing Director of Ventures,  Alastair Cochran as CFO, Warren Buckley as Retail Director, Cathryn Ross into a newly-created Strategy and Regulatory Affairs Director position and Francis Paonessa as Capital Delivery Director. It completes the make-up of Thames Water’s Executive team.
