Arnos Grove pipe replacement

We’ll be working in Arnos Grove as part of our project to replace a major pipe in the area.

Working in two phases

The project will be carried out in two phases. We'll complete works on one section before moving along the road onto the next section.

Phase One: 26th February 2024 to July 2024

In the eastern side of the road carriageway, we'll be installing a new water pipe.

We’ll be working in short 75 metre length sections up towards Cannon Hill. Work will be started from the end of Arnos Grove nearest to Morton Way.

Traffic Management will be in place with two-way traffic lights set up. Work within each section is anticipated to take approximately 2 weeks.

Phase Two: July 2024 to September 2024

We’ll be installing a new water pipe along Morton Crescent and around Morton Way roundabout.

The pipe will then be installed with the section already installed at the bottom of Arnos Grove.

Closer to the time of starting Phase Two, we’ll provide more information. We anticipate works on each section will take approximately two weeks.

How this may affect you

We’ll do our best to minimise any disruption to you. Our current working hours are 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday and 8am to 1pm on Saturday.

If access to your property is affected, we'll let you know in advance. Pedestrians, emergency vehicles and bin collections will have full access to roads. View our business loss of profits policy if you feel your business has been affected.

Road and traffic

We’ll be working in 75 metre sections up Arnos Grove, starting at the southern end near Morton Way. The excavation works will be on the eastern side of Arnos Grove. This side of the carriageway will be closed within each section of work.

Traffic on Arnos Grove will be controlled via two-way traffic lights. We will try to reduce the length of the sections at each end of Arnos Grove. This will help to minimise traffic impact at the roundabouts with Morton Way and Cannon Hill.

As we carry out work, the following junctions will be closed:

  • Arnos Grove with Raith Avenue
  • Langside Crescent and
  • Minchenden Crescent

These junctions will not be closed at the same time. Diversion routes will be clearly signed when they are closed. We will fully reinstate each section prior to moving to the next section. You can view utility worksamended bus routes, and plan your journey online.

Driveway access

There will be no vehicle access to the driveway of properties on the eastern side of Arnos Grove whilst we work outside these properties. Pedestrian access will be maintained to residents and businesses.
